Another nice SOG Knife as usual. Thin profile, easy to open thumb stud. Just the right size to keep in your pocket without it digging into your side. Handy pocket clip. Nice price too.

A sturdy construction and a blade sharp as hell. check and check. Easy opening with the thumb stud and a flick of the wrist. check. The drawback to this folder is that although the clip makes for descrete pocket or waistband carry, the many edges in the casting of the handle make this weapon difficult to draw. My Kershaw is sleek in this regard but its clip makes for more conspicuous carry unfortunately.

I bought this knife as a secordary tactical folder and I was impressed. For a knife selling for $35 the blade was heavy and sharp, and the knife’s action and lock up are very tight. The lock up on the Sog Salute is comparable to, if not better than that of the buck 110. The lock-back style lock also presents this knife’s main tactical weakness however, which makes this more of a tactical utility knife versus one designed for fighting/self defense. The lock back mechanism is released through a button on the back of the knife, which makes one handed closing unsafe and almost impossible. Once the knife is deployed it will take two hands to close.
While produced in china, this knife is durable, and the black oxide finish is of good quality. I would recomend this knife for the younger knife customer who does not want to spend one hundred plus dollars on a folding knife, or the person who wants a good folder they can count on, but not a tactical knife that with several extra features will cost them lots of money. For $35 you can’t really go wrong buying this strong and useful tactical utility folder.

This is exactly what I was hoping for!
It’s well made with quality materials, and very sharp right out of the box.

I have had this knife now for about a year. I still love it. It is no longer my EDC knife, having been replaced by a Sog Trident Tanto, which is much lighter.
It is a heavy duty piece, and it is a bit heavy in the pocket. The weight is not a criticism – it feels very solid, reassuring and well made. Just substantial feeling, I guess. It’s taken a great deal of abuse at work on construction sites and through casual use. It sharpens right up and keeps performing.
I have to occasionally check the case screws and tighten them, but as I stated above it has taken a lot of abuse.
Highly recommended. At this price you will not be disappointed.
